The
transition of Central Asian Partners (CAP) Shipping Service from
Georgia to Maryland is effective immediately for envelopes and
packages sent from North America to CAP members in Kyrgyzstan. All
mail and funds MUST now be sent to the new addresses below!
Please send ALL
MAIL AND PACKAGES to this address:
CAP
Shipping (CAP Member recipient’s last name in parenthesis)
9505 Deereco Road
Timonium MD 21093
You can use
the US Post Office, UPS, Federal Express, or any other carrier to
send items to this address. Please limit the weight of
any one package you send to 30 pounds. This is a guideline, not a
rigid requirement, so use some common sense in this regard. Our
common shipping box is 25” Wide X 25” Long X 20” High, so any
package that exceeds those dimensions will be shipped in the
packaging we receive it in, so make the package secure as it will
travel halfway around the world. Any one dimension of any package
you send to us cannot exceed 44” (won’t fit in the plane).
Please send FUNDS
separately to cover the cost of shipping packages from
Maryland to Bishkek as follows. Please make checks payable
to CAP Shipping Service and send
to this address:
CAP Shipping Accounts
9505 Deereco Road
Timonium MD 21093
Also, please
put the CAP Member recipient’s name in
the "for" or "Memo" area of the check
so we will know whose account to credit. With the
costs incurred from our air freight carrier, plus buying boxes,
packing materials, etc., and the folks in Bishkek having to rent a
van or truck to pick up the shipment, it costs approximately $3.75
per pound to cover all the expenses.

Due to
customs requirements we need to define the contents of packages
destined for CAP Shipping members in Kyrgyzstan. We have devised the
following system for coding the contents of all packages. Simply write
on the top of the package the word CODE and the appropriate numbers
that correspond to the main contents of the package:
1. Letters
and Mail
2. Books
(includes printed matter, documents and magazines)
3. Clothing
(includes shoes)
4. Toys
5. Kitchen
Items (includes all foods, drinks and spices as well as usual
kitchen items)
6. Office
Items (includes all electronic office items like fax machines,
modems, computer accessories, teaching
accessories, etc.)
7. Bathroom
Items (includes medicines, personal care items, cleaning
supplies)
8. Household
Items (includes decorations, bedding, storage devices, lawn care
items,
hardware,
furniture, stereo equipment, cassettes, CDs, Videos and everything
else for the
home)
9. Computers
10. Sports
Equipment
11. Musical
Instruments
12. Child
Care Items (includes strollers, child car seats, child beds,
etc.)
For example
a package containing popcorn, cookies, socks, winter hats, cold
medicine, ten cassettes, towels and a bunch of office equipment
would look like this
CODE 5,6,8
Please
select only two or three (no more than three) of the main things in
the package when determining the CODE. We do not want you to be too
specific. The idea is to understand the two or three main categories
that describe the contents of the package.
If packages are sent to
CAP without a CODE they may be returned.
